2022 AREA CONFERENCE ON THE REGGIO EMILIA APPROACH WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF REGGIO CHILDREN
IN 2022 we journeyed beyond classroom walls, beyond Covid-19, beyond expectations during a groundbreaking hybrid conference as we ventured together in-person or online, with educators connecting directly from Reggio Emilia, Italy.
In-person and online conference delegates simultaneously experienced livestreamed presentations from Reggio Emilia on 29 & 30 June 2022. Each day consisted of a two-hour presentation in the morning and a two-hour presentation in the afternoon. Both in-person and online delegates were able to interact directly with the speakers from Reggio Emilia during Q & A sessions. Any presentations in Italian were translated consecutively into English.
Delegates were also able to view an exciting, virtual exhibition of pre-recorded presentations of Reggio Emilia inspired practice in South Africa online during the week of the conference. These presentations revealed shifts in practice in various settings as schools began to travel “beyond” to embrace opportunities of a new era.
IN PERSON OPTION
DESCRIPTION
The livestreamed presentations by Reggio Emilia speakers were projected onto a large screen. In between these presentations delegates enjoyed lunch together, connected with others, browsed in the bookshop and experienced indoor and outdoor ateliers. Each atelier shone a different focus on the principle of “100 Languages” of learning, thought, enquiry, expression and communication, revealing possibilities for education in the future.
